Denmark Now Permits Short-Term Employment Without Work Permits for Several Categories of Foreigners: List

🌍 Dreaming of working in the picturesque landscapes of Denmark? Exciting news awaits as the Danish authorities have introduced new regulations, effective since November 17, offering certain foreign nationals the opportunity to work in Denmark for short periods without the need for a residence and work permit. Let's unravel the details of this groundbreaking update.

[QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS]

📝 To qualify for this unique opportunity, applicants must be employed by a foreign company affiliated with a Danish-established company. An additional criterion is that the Danish company should boast a workforce of at least 50 employees, providing a significant scope for employment possibilities.

[WORKING PERIODS AND STAY CONDITIONS]

⌛ Under the new rules, eligible individuals can work in the Danish company for two separate periods within a 180-day timeframe. Each working period is capped at a maximum of 15 working days. Crucially, a minimum stay outside of Denmark for at least 14 days is mandated between each working period.

[CATEGORIES OF EXEMPTION]

🌐 While the new rule primarily applies to management or high/intermediate-level knowledge work, there are specific categories exempted from the mandatory work permit:

General Exemptions: Encompassing foreign diplomats, their families, and household staff, as well as staff on international trains, vehicles, and Danish commercial ships adhering to specific limits.

Guest Teachers: Teachers conducting classes up to five days under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science or the Ministry of Culture institutions within a 180-day period.

Artists, Musicians, Performers: Individuals playing a significant role in a public artistic event lasting less than 14 days, along with essential staff.

Board Members: Board members performing professional duties in Denmark for up to 40 days within a calendar year.

Professionals with Special Assignments: Including researchers, foreign company representatives on business trips, and household staff of foreign nationals visiting Denmark for up to three months.

[ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS]

🛂 While citizens of visa-required countries still need a visitor’s visa, individuals with an existing work permit limited to a specific job must apply for a permit for sideline employment if they wish to teach at a specific institution or work at another company.

[INCOME INFORMATION IN WORK PERMIT PROCESS]

💼 In a recent development, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) has integrated income information from the Confederation of Danish Employers when processing work and residence permit applications. This aims to ensure that the offered position aligns with the salary standards in Denmark.

🚀 The new regulations in Denmark mark a significant step toward facilitating short-term work opportunities for foreign nationals. Whether you're an artist, a researcher, or part of a diplomatic mission, these changes open doors to a diverse range of professionals. Stay tuned for more updates as Denmark continues to evolve its immigration landscape. Happy working! 🇩🇰✨
