BECOMING PART OF THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES


Following extensive deliberation and consultation, the Canadian government opted to recruit permanent residents into the Canadian Armed Forces. This makes it possible for foreigners having Canadian residency permits to join the armed forces of Canada.
Being in the military is more than just a profession; it's a selfless service that requires the highest levels of patriotism and dedication. This gives foreigners the same option to join the Canadian military.

Steps on how to become a part of the Canada Army Force (CAF) are seen below;

5 STEPS TO JOIN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES

1. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Original identity documents, a photo ID, the highest level of academic transcripts, evidence of your professional licenses as well as any other documents needed for the field chosen, must then be presented. The Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada must provide a Canadian equivalency for all foreign education.

2. RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT

Forms for reliability screening will be completed by you. By doing this, you establish your reliability when handling private data. Be totally truthful when completing the necessary forms because the Canadian Forces shall verify all of your submissions.

3. APTITUDE TEST

To identify which military specialty you might be most qualified for, you will take an aptitude exam. You'll be evaluated on your verbal, spatial, and problem-solving skills during the intelligence test.

Candidates are advised to complete the Practice Canadian Forces Intelligence Test in its entirety before to the testing session at a nearby Recruiting Center.

During the assessment session, you will also complete a personality questionnaire that provides information on your unique characteristics and features.

4. MEDICAL EXAM

You will then undergo a two-part medical examination: First, you fill out a questionnaire about your medical history, which includes information on your prescriptions. The medical staff will then do a physical examination to determine your height, weight, and evaluate your hearing, vision, and color perception.

In the second stage, reviewing your medical data will enable you to spot any limitations that might prevent you from advancing in training and profession.

5. INTERVIEW

An interview with an army career counselor is the final step in the process; it’s your official employment interview and a crucial one. You will be questioned about your professional experience, understanding of the Canadian Forces, and comprehension of the position you chose during the highly competitive application process.

ELIGIBILITY

To start a career in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have completed at least grade 10 or 24 credits of secondary IV

On becoming a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, you can apply for citizenship.
