The U.S. Embassy in Ghana is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Lead Warehouse Worker. If you are organized, efficient, and have a strong background in warehouse operations, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.

Job Duties

As the Lead Warehouse Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading one of the four warehouse teams within the General Services Office (GSO) section.
  • Ensuring the safe handling, transporting, and storage of both expendable and non-expendable items.
  • Supervising a team of warehouse workers, including a truck driver (Grade 3) and three warehouse workers (Grade 2).
  • Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor or their designee.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a large warehouse operation.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a warehousing environment.

Job Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive understanding of warehouse operations, procedures, and security standards.
  • Proficient in maintaining and efficiently utilizing warehouse storage space.
  • Skilled in conducting inventory and proper stacking of items and equipment.
  • Knowledgeable about local traffic laws and regulations, as well as in-country travel routes.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.

Language Proficiency:

  • Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Good working knowledge of any Ghanaian language (speaking, reading, and writing).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Physically capable of performing loading and unloading tasks.
  • Able to handle heavy objects smoothly and efficiently.
  • Capable of lifting a maximum of 51 lbs. (23 kg) in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Proficient in using warehouse tools and operating equipment such as forklifts, hand trolleys, and electronic lifters.
  • Able to perform preventive maintenance and basic automotive repairs.
  • Quick to identify vehicle defects and report them to the supervisor.
  • Adaptable to perform assigned tasks in all types of weather and environmental conditions, including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather, and high winds.
