Job Duties
As the Lead Warehouse Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Leading one of the four warehouse teams within the General Services Office (GSO) section.
- Ensuring the safe handling, transporting, and storage of both expendable and non-expendable items.
- Supervising a team of warehouse workers, including a truck driver (Grade 3) and three warehouse workers (Grade 2).
- Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor or their designee.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a large warehouse operation.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a warehousing environment.
Job Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of warehouse operations, procedures, and security standards.
- Proficient in maintaining and efficiently utilizing warehouse storage space.
- Skilled in conducting inventory and proper stacking of items and equipment.
- Knowledgeable about local traffic laws and regulations, as well as in-country travel routes.
Education Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required.
Language Proficiency:
- Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Good working knowledge of any Ghanaian language (speaking, reading, and writing).
Skills and Abilities:
- Physically capable of performing loading and unloading tasks.
- Able to handle heavy objects smoothly and efficiently.
- Capable of lifting a maximum of 51 lbs. (23 kg) in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Proficient in using warehouse tools and operating equipment such as forklifts, hand trolleys, and electronic lifters.
- Able to perform preventive maintenance and basic automotive repairs.
- Quick to identify vehicle defects and report them to the supervisor.
- Adaptable to perform assigned tasks in all types of weather and environmental conditions, including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather, and high winds.
