The University of Turin (UniTO) is offering an exceptional scholarship opportunity for international students facing challenging circumstances. The “UniTO for Students at Risk” scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year is designed to support students who hold a residence permit for international protection, including asylum, refugee status, or other forms of protection under Italian law.

UniTO Scholarship Sponsorship Package

The UniTO for Students at Risk Scholarship provides significant financial and logistical support to help students thrive in their academic journey. The scholarship includes:

  • Financial Support: Recipients will receive a total of €11,000 (gross), disbursed in three installments throughout the academic year.

  • Comprehensive Support Services:

    • Welcome and Orientation: Guidance to help students navigate university life and adapt to their new environment.
    • Inclusion Programs: Initiatives designed to support social and academic integration.
    • Cultural Mediation: Services to ease cultural transitions and bridge gaps.
    • Psychological Support: Access to mental health resources to ensure well-being.
    • Tutoring Services: Tailored academic support to meet individual needs.
    • Customized Accommodation: Special arrangements for students with disabilities or specific learning disorders.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the UniTO for Students at Risk Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be born after January 1, 1995.

  • Residence Permit: Applicants must hold a residence permit for international protection (asylum/refugee status or subsidiary protection), special protection, temporary protection due to the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine, or another form of protection under Italian immigration laws, issued in Italy since 2018.

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must possess a foreign qualification eligible for enrollment in a UniTO undergraduate (three-year program) or postgraduate degree program with free admission for the academic year 2024/2025.

  • Application Submission: Applications must be submitted on the Apply@UniTo platform by specific deadlines:

    • Postgraduate degree programs: by January 31, 2024.
    • Undergraduate degree programs: by April 30, 2024.
    • Alternative submission window: between August 21 and September 4, 2024.

Program Details

The scholarship is available for two categories based on the type of degree program:

  • Undergraduate Degree Programs (three-year programs): Four scholarships are available for students enrolled in the following programs:

    • Global Law and Transnational Legal Studies (English-taught)
    • Languages and Modern Cultures for Tourism (Italian-taught)
    • Modern Languages and Literatures (Italian-taught)
  • Postgraduate Degree Programs: Six scholarships are available for students enrolled in any postgraduate degree program with free admission, whether taught in Italian or English.

  3. Required Documents:

    • A copy of the passport page certifying your identity.
    • A copy of your residence permit or, for those awaiting their permit, the positive outcome of the interview with the Territorial Commission.
    • A motivational letter in Italian or English explaining your reasons for applying.
    • A curriculum vitae detailing your academic and professional background.
    • Documentation certifying your foreign qualification and completed studies, with a certified translation if the original document is not in Italian, English, French, or Spanish.
    • Self-certification of language proficiency (English or Italian) or a language certification meeting the required level (B1 or higher).

  • Application Deadline: September 9, 2024, at 11:00 CEST.

  • Interview Dates:

    • Undergraduate programs: Starting from the second half of September 2024.
    • Postgraduate programs: Starting from the second half of October 2024.
  • Final Rankings:

    • Undergraduate programs: Published from October 11, 2024.
    • Postgraduate programs: Published from October 28, 2024.
  • Enrollment Deadlines:

    • Undergraduate programs: By October 18, 2024, at 15:00.
    • Postgraduate programs: By November 5, 2024.
