Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) is now accepting applications from international students for its August 2025 intake. Prospective students can apply for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs through both self-funding and the UNS Scholarship scheme. This opportunity is available to non-Indonesian citizens who are eager to pursue higher education for free in Indonesia.
Benefits of This Scholarship The UNS Scholarship offers two types of financial support: Full Scholarship and Partial Scholarship.
Full Scholarship recipients will receive:
- A tuition fee waiver
- Monthly living allowance: IDR 1,500,000 for bachelor's programs, IDR 1,750,000 for master's programs, and IDR 2,250,000 for doctoral programs
- Free Indonesian language course
- Health insurance
Partial Scholarship recipients will receive:
- A tuition fee waiver
- Free Indonesian language course
- Health insurance
This scholarship is available for all programs, although the quota for the Faculty of Medicine or Medical Sciences is limited. Recipients are responsible for other expenses, such as accommodation, airfare, visas, meals, and additional health insurance.
Eligibility Criteria To qualify for the UNS Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be non-Indonesian citizens.
- Show a strong interest in pursuing a bachelor's degree at UNS.
- Be under 24 years of age at the time of application.
- Be willing and able to attend an interview via video call.
- Not hold refugee status.
- Not have been convicted of any felonies or significant crimes.
- Have financial support.
- Complete all required documents.
Language Proficiency Requirement Applicants must demonstrate English language competence. This can be shown through a TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 450 for natural science programs and 500 for social science programs, or equivalent scores in other English proficiency tests. Admitted students will be required to complete an Indonesian language course provided by UNS, which is covered by the scholarship sponsorship.
Application Process and Required Documents The application process involves several steps:
Program Selection: Review and select a study program that matches your interests. A list of available programs and curricula can be found on the UNS website.
Document Preparation: Gather all required documents, which include:
- Recent formal photograph (JPG or PNG, max. 300 KB)
- Color scan of a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity (cover and identity pages)
- Certificate of graduation from the latest education institution (in English or Indonesian)
- Academic transcripts from the latest education institution (in English or Indonesian)
- Recent health certificate (in English or Indonesian)
- Curriculum Vitae (template provided)
- Financial statement (template provided)
- Personal statement (template provided)
- Certificate of Indonesian language proficiency (strongly preferred)
- Certificate of English language proficiency
- Two letters of recommendation from a lecturer/professor or work supervisor (for master's and doctoral programs)
- Preliminary research proposal (for doctoral programs)
Embassy Visit: Visit the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General in your country to request a recommendation letter. Bring the Letter of Offer from UNS, passport, graduation certificate, and academic transcript.
Online Application: Create an admission account on the UNS International Admission website, fill out personal information, and upload all required documents.
Print Registration Card: After submitting the documents, print the registration card.
The selection process includes an administrative selection, an initial interview, a computer-based test, and a final interview by the department.
