In response to the global demand for proficient Chinese language instructors and to foster Chinese language education worldwide, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) is offering the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship for the year 2024.
This scholarship initiative aims to support current and aspiring Chinese language educators in advancing their studies in China, with Jilin University (JLU) being among the esteemed host institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
- Demonstrated friendly attitude towards China, clean criminal record, and adherence to Chinese laws and host institution regulations are required.
- Good health and academic and behavioral standing are prerequisites.
- A keen interest in Chinese language education and related fields is expected.
- Age criteria: 16 to 35 years old as of September 1, 2024. Current Chinese language teachers can be up to 45 years old. Bachelor’s degree scholarship applicants should be under 25.
Scholarship Categories and Qualifications
1. Chinese Language Teacher Scholarships:
- Master’s Degree: Requires a Bachelor’s degree with specific HSK and HSKK test scores. Priority given to applicants with a teaching institution job offer post-studies.
- One-Year Study Program: Various specializations available, with specific HSK and HSKK test score requirements.
- One-Semester Study Program: Multiple disciplines offered with HSK and HSKK score prerequisites.
- Four-Week Study Program: Emphasizes Chinese language and culture study, with group applications encouraged.
2. Online Program Scholarships:
- One-Year and One-Semester Programs: Different HSK score requirements apply.
- Special Online Study Program: Specific requirements to be confirmed directly with JLU.
Application Process
- Applications commence on March 1, 2024, through the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.
- Applicants must identify recommending institutions and host institutions, submit materials online, and monitor application status. Deadlines vary based on program start dates.
Special Policies
- In-Service Chinese Language Teachers: Priority given to current instructors providing employment proof and recommendation letters.
- Chinese Bridge Winners: Can directly apply with their scholarship certificates.
Application Deadline: May 15, 2024 (For September 2024 programs)
Successful candidates will receive an Admission Notice, Chinese Visa Application form, and other pertinent documents.
