Chiang Mai University (CMU) is proud to announce the CMU Presidential Scholarship for the 2024 academic year, aimed at nurturing academic excellence and fostering research innovation. This esteemed scholarship program aims to provide support to 200 full graduate-level scholarships annually, evenly distributed between doctoral and master’s degree candidates.

The application process for the scholarship is structured into two regular rounds, aligning with the admission periods for the first semester of the academic year 2024. Candidates interested in commencing their studies in the second semester are encouraged to reach out directly to the Program Administrative Committee Chair.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time, regular curriculum doctoral or master’s degree program and must be actively engaged in thesis or dissertation work during the academic year 2024.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required. For those who have completed a thesis-focused master’s degree program, evidence of published research in reputable journals is necessary.
- English proficiency is mandatory, with accepted tests including IELTS (minimum score 6.0), TOEFL (minimum score 213 CBT or 79 IBT), or CMU-eTEGS (minimum score 70). Exceptions are granted for native English speakers from specified countries.
Conditions for Recipients
- Scholarship recipients are required to enroll as full-time students and submit progress reports every semester.
- Graduation criteria include compliance with CMU standards and additional stipulations set by the Scholarship Committee, such as publication in international journals and conferences.
