Come to study Vocational Qualification in Mechanical Engineering and Production Technologies to Kuopio, Finland! After graduation, you will become a plater-welder.
You will study at our modern well-equipped premises in Savo Vocational College in Savilahti Campus, Kuopio. The practical training periods take place in the companies in the region and will make up an important part of the education.
The work of plater-welders includes welding, modifying and joining metal sheets together. Plater-welders work within larger productions manufacturing steel pieces according to the relevant production drawings and instructions. Their tasks can include, for example, various welding jobs, as well as cutting and bending metal sheets.
Plater-welders have the skills to use modern CNC machinery and equipment in their work.
They work within the metal industry, manufacturing metal sheet pieces and welded metal sheets and producing various steel structures or parts. Steel structures are used in various machines, buildings and vehicles.

Take The Duolingo English Test
The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken in under an hour. The test is taken via a computer with a camera and includes a proficiency score, video interview and writing sample. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session.
Applicant must have Duolingo English test score minimum 85 points.
The Duolingo test certificate cannot be older than six months.
Note that the English test results take 48 hours to verify. So do it before filling the application. You must attach Duolingo certificate to your application.
On Duolingo test choose Savo Vocational College and save the certificate to attach to your application (not by email). You must pay the test certificate yourself.
We don't accept any other language tests.

Take the preliminary test
After you have applied, you will get a link to the preliminary test via email (remember to check your junk-mail box).
You must take the test, otherwise your application is not complete.
The test measures the applicant’s skills in the following areas: mathematics, physics, geometry and logical reasoning.
You must do it yourself, and you can do it only once.
The test must be done by 21 February 2024.
Microsoft Teams interview
The applicants will be selected for a Teams interview based on application, motivational video and tests.
If you are selected for the interview, you will receive an invitation via email.
Interviewing is carried out by using Microsoft Teams. You need to have your camera on.
Make sure you have a quiet place where you can speak undisturbed.
Join the meeting at the appointed time (UTC +2)
When arriving to interview, bring your passport with you or an official photo identification.
All interviews will be recorded.
Student selection
The selection team selects the most suitable applicants for the degree studies.
Student selection will be done in the beginning of April 2024. All applicants will be informed by email.
Student selection is based on your application, interview, language test and preliminary test.
We emphasise motivation, language skills, work experience and future plans in the field.
Start of studies
Studies will start on 2 September 2024 in Kuopio.
