» Fully Funded Unesco Kulturweit Tandem Exchange (German International Cultural Voluntary) Program for Young Africans
Applications are now open for the UNESCO Kulturweit Tandem Exchange Program. From 12.02. Until March 10, 2024 (12 p.m. CET), women* from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia as well as young people from Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Namibia and Togo can apply online for kulturweit incoming. The stay in Germany will take place from the end of August to November 2024.
The international cultural voluntary service as part of the German UNESCO commission offers young people from Germany aged 18 through 26 the opportunity to get involved in the foreign culture and education policy for the duration of six or twelve months. During the course, all volunteers are financially supported and accompanied by seminars – this way kulturweit is open to all young people!
Formal Prerequisites
The participants must be at least 18 years and not older than 26 years during the entire time of the voluntary service, i.e. they are not allowed to turn 27 during their assignment period
The primary place of residence must be Germany (i.e. volunteers should have spent the majority of the past two to three years in Germany, however, German citizenship is not a prerequisite)
German native or excellent knowledge of the German language (proficiency level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Good basic knowledge of the English language, as well as ideally some basic knowledge of a language spoken in the host country
A good health and physical condition that is adequate for the stay abroad
A passport that is valid until at least six months after the scheduled return

Benefits
Organisation and implementation of the accompanying pedagogic programme.
Enrolment for and payment of travel health insurance, liability and accident insurance as well as German social securities.
Other programme expenses such as the payment of allowances and travel contributions, language class as well as room and board.
selection process
After a preliminary selection by the German Commission for UNESCO, the application documents are submitted to the respective partner organisations for final selection. After the final selection of applications is completed, applicants will receive an assignment offer.
Assignment proposal
About six months before the scheduled departure, all future volunteers receive an assignment proposal.
Assignment location
The applicants who received an assignment proposal will have about one week to decide whether to accept or decline the assignment offer. Assignments that are declined will be offered to the next applicant on the wait list.
Selection Process:
The kulturweit team of the German Commission for UNESCO is carrying out a preliminary selection process within the next four to six weeks.
After the preliminary selection phase, all applicants will receive a notification about the status of their application by email.
At this time, rejections or positive intermediate notifications are being sent to the applicants, which will be taken into account in the second phase of the selection process.
Then all remaining applications will be handed over to one of kulturweit’s partner organisations for final selection. The selection process will be completed within ten to twelve weeks.
